Changes at the top at G & P Batteries
Specialist waste battery collection and recycling company G & P Batteries has a new Managing Director. Former Commercial Director Greg Clementson takes over the role from Michael Green, who is to take up an important new role as Special Projects Director.
The move follows a review by parent company Ecobat, the largest lead smelting company in the world, to maximise G & P’s specialist expertise in waste batteries moving forward. Greg will concentrate on continuing the work to develop G & P into a world class facility and as the recognised expert for the collection and consolidation of waste batteries in the UK. This frees up Michael to concentrate on the developing markets and processes, including the ground-breaking challenge of recycling of hybrid automotive batteries, which is set to be a major issue in the future.
There are also two new additions to G & P’s senior team. David Brookes has joined as Site Operations Manager after 25 years managing tyre production with Goodyear/Dunlop and Adam Williams has taken up the role of Head of Finance.
“The world of waste batteries is facing some challenging times ahead and these changes are intended to confirm G & P’s position as the leading UK waste battery specialist,” said Greg Clementson. “I’m delighted to be taking over the mantle of MD, a role that Michael has embraced passionately over the last 18 years. For our customers and suppliers it will be very much ‘business as usual’ but I will be striving to ensure that G & P stays ahead of the game.”
